Richard Wallis

Looking after the finances of the church, Richard Wallis is the Church Treasurer.  Caterham URC is a registered charity (number 1132558) and gets its income through the weekly offerings, sundry donations, occasional legacies and lettings charges for its premises.  He also looks after the Gift Aid claims.  The church also raises nearly £10,000 from other collections during the year for a number of external agencies including Christian Aid, COAT, Angel Tree, the Bible Society. The Leprosy Mission and responses to the Disasters Emergency Committee’s appeals.

The Treasurer’s responsibilities include the following:

  • Ensuring the collection of all church income and the payment of invoices and expenses.
  • Recording of all financial transactions and reconciliation of bank accounts.
  • Preparation of an annual budget which is agreed at a church meeting to enable the monitoring of  income and expenditure.
  • Preparation of quarterly financial statements for reporting to the Finance and Admin Committee.
  • Production of Annual Accounts which are circulated at the AGM and form the basis of complying with the charities act.
  • Recording of freewill offerings and operating  the Gift Aid Scheme.
